5 WAYS TO READ MORE IN 2018

With every new year comes an ever-growing TBR and nothing brings more pleasure (and stress) for every booklover ever than to add more books.

However, your Queen has come to your rescue. I, she who reigns the kingdom of books, shall give you tips for devouring that TBR this year.

Books are magic. Books are fun. And, most importantly, they are delicious to devour.

{why do I feel like a cannibal? I assure you guys that the only things I devour are books and, on the occasion when frustration strikes, homework. The latter tastes rather awful, though, so I’d advise only consuming pages of things that bring you happiness}

5 Ways To Read More Books In 2018

1. Set A Goal.

On January 1st, give yourself a set number of books you want to read by the end of 2018. Do an amount that seems logical to you, something you can reach. But, you can also challenge yourself and go outside your comfort zone.

Don’t just read one, read 6 or 20 or 100 or infinity. The amount of stress you want to cause yourself is up to you and only you’ll be to blame when your TBR grows too big.

But, don’t worry. I heard that people who read a lot have many lives and you’ll be fine if you get crushed to death by your TBR. It’s also good for the bones and brains or whatnot.

HINT, HINT! Take the Goodreads Reading Challenge and track yourself on there. Trust me, it’ll work. Or, so I say.

2. Become A Hermit  Find Time To Read

Your TBR pile has good uses, besides making you question your sanity and magically growing on its own without your permission, because YOU CAN HIDE IN IT.

Build a book fort, I say, and hide from humans in there.

Growling and threatening to set anyone who comes too close on fire also works because nobody wants to come near the book hoarding dragon.

But, in all truthfulness, find time. When you’re waiting for your bus, when you walk into class but the teacher hasn’t started the lesson yet, and ANY OTHER TIME BECAUSE ALL THE TIMES ARE READ YOUR BOOK TIME.

You don’t have to become a hermit to find time to read. You just need to make time and use the spare seconds you have to consume more pages.

3. Find Bookish Buddies

When you have someone to fangirl/fanboy with you, the results are beautiful. You’ll have people who know that the real reason you’re up at 2 in the morning isn’t really because of homework, people who will comfort you when your favorite character gets savagely murdered by the author, and who’ll understand when you’re incapable of forming coherent speech so you just flail and make a sound that’s a cross between a chicken that got run over with a car and a dinosaur that stubbed its toe.

AND, YOU’LL WANT TO READ MORE BOOKS WITH THAT PERSON/ THOSE PEOPLE.

AND, YOU’LL GIVE EACH OTHER MORE BOOKS TO READ BECAUSE YOU’LL CONSTANTLY WANT TO READ MORE TOGETHER.

The more people to drag into your bookish plans, the better. Remember, Rome wasn’t built in a day. A library, however, can be dominated in a day. And, with that, you are on your way to ruling the world.

4. Follow Book Bloggers and BookTubers

Getting involved in the reader community will reward you immensely. Not only will you get to test the limits of your TBR, but you’ll meet amazing people who adore books as you much or even more than you do.

YOU WILL NEVER BE AT LOSS WITH BOOKS TO READ! You’ll only hear about more and more books and thus, you will want to read more and more books.

From Book bloggers and Booktubers, you will get an unfathomable amount of books and you will be happy. BECAUSE BOOKS= HAPPINESS. #Logic, obviously.

5. Read, Read, Read

Honestly, this is the best advice, though. All you have to do is read. Open that book, take a nice, long inhale, and proceed to move your eyes across the pages.

BOOKS ARE BEAUTIFUL! And, you, my friend, deserve to read them because their amazingness will seep into your brain and make you a more open-minded, intelligent, and overall awesome person. Not that you aren’t already.

  1. Oh, yeah, I’ve definitely set an ambitious goal! 200 books (even though I didn’t complete it in 2017, but WE DON’T TALK ABOUT THAT)! Hopefully, I’ll be able to do it this year, though! 😀 Finding time to read usually involves me reading when I’m absolutely not supposed to. Oops. And book bloggers and Booktubers are fantastic. Too bad they also tend to add more books to my TBR even though I really don’t need them to since I do that all by myself. XD

    1. Me, too! I didn’t reach my goal this year to read 100 books, so I’m retrying again in 2018. I’m definitely hoping to read a lot more than that if possible.

I’m taking some insane classes this year and even trying to start a job, so I WILL DEFINITELY BE READING WHEN I’M NOT SUPPOSED TO. I sit in the very back in math class and I just set my book on top of my textbook and between my notebook. The funny thing is my teacher never cares even when she walks by, so this’ll be fun 😛

Bookbloggers and tubers are both a blessing and a curse. Cait encouraged me to add even more books to my TBR because of her post today and I’ve watched so many anticipated books of 2018 videos, my eyes need a rest lol. I ALREADY MADE A 2019 BOOK RELEASES LIST ON GOODREADS BECAUSE I HAVE NO SELF CONTROL!

  2. Ahh reading is so much fun and all we need to do is like live forever so we have time to read them all. 😂😂I do like the hissing at humans method too *nods* And I think reading with a community is REALLY helpful too!! I always feel more inspired to read when I know my friends are tackling the book too. 😀

    I loved the list!😂

    1. Yes, as a reader, I have many lives and they will all be fantastic and full of stress because of my inability to keep up with my TBR. The hissing might be a side effect of reading BECAUSE HOW DARE A MERE MORTAL INTERRUPT MY BEAUTIFUL BOOK?? xD

I am really excited for this whole blog thing because I usually don’t have anyone in my family or as my friends that read the exact same books or genres that I do, specifically and I HAVE NO ONE TO FANGIRL WITH. And, that I have discovered, is a sad, sad way to spend my time. So I now hope to find fellow fangirls 🙂

Thank you! For loving it and for checking out my blog. I got so excited when I saw comments that I screamed and started dancing around. My family is slightly concerned, as usual lol

  3. OH MY TBR *drowns* SO MANY GOOD BOOKS RELEASING in 2018? And honestly, I’m excited but nowhere near ready. Also A+ usage of GIFS! “browse me” had me laughing

Oh but THANK YOU FOR COMING TO MY RESCUE!! I was previously drowning in my TBR but now swimming in it. Such an improvement right?

I set my goal for 150 books AND AM FREAKING OUT!??! I have no idea if I will be able to complete that. I read 114 books last year so…WHO KNOWS. AND OMG what’s your GR? I need to follow you on all platforms tbh.

ANd I am a hermit already so?? I read on the bus all the time! Not while I’m waiting for the bus bc like?? It’s London, it’s raining and my book will get wet. I actually read so much in spare minutes of my life? Like even just a few seconds makes all the difference.

OH YES fangirling motivates me SO much to read!! I have lots of bookish friends online and I just message them when I finish a book like “RIP ME” I also like buddy reads! Which always help me finish a book.

I’ve only just started to get into Booktube and I…admit. It’s not AS GREAT as book blogging? But I asked for recs on twitter and got bombarded!

I WANT TO READ MORE FANTASY. FANTASY IS MY FAVE GENRE but in 2017 i read more…contemporary? OOPS

    1. MY TBR IS THE REASON I’M DROWNING!! Legit, it’s not even about school and homework stressing me out anymore. IT’S THE BOOKS! But, I love them ever so much and they have the permission to give me emotional pain.

Thank you!! I love looking for funny gifs. It takes forever but it’s definitely worth it now 🙂

Ah, we all need a book dealer in our lives. #BEABOOKDEALER

SO MANY GOOD BOOKS COMING OUT 2018!! *pterodactyl screech*

As long as you know how to swim, unlike me, you’re fine. xD

I changed my goal to 120 books. I’m slightly worried, but I’m sure I’ll be fine. *random twitch*…. or not.

GOOD LUCK! You can do it! Maybe 150 books won’t be so hard to read considering HOW MANY GOODS BOOKS ARE GOING TO BE GRACING US THIS YEAR!!

Hey, kudos to you because you actually read over a 100 books. I don’t think I even hit 50, lol.

My social media are all located at the top of my home page. I have my goodreads, my pinterest, and twitter(which I just recently made) and my very ugly instagram (sorry for it. I used my phone camera. I need a real camera soon).

YOU LIVE IN LONDON!!?! Ah, that’s been a dream travel location for me since EVER!

Also, I ADORE rain. So, I’d buy a body suit/ body umbrella for me and my books. #GENIUSIDEA and #LOGIC

I need to find more bookish buddies as a matter of fact. I don’t really know many people who read the same YA that I read, even among my reader friends.

OOOOH, check out PolandBananasBooks and TashaPolis and ABookUtopia and Emmmabooks and Readbyzoe. I mean, those are the ones that I watch. But, over Nano, I found so many more which was amazing, but I don’t remember many of their names at the top of my head.

I only recently discovered book blog, actually, and my first book blogger was cait from paperfury.

I read a lot of fantasy in 2017, , but I want to read a diversity of genres in 2018.

  4. I really love reading books but I don’t usually read which makes me behind most of the time. And the reason for that is I don’t have friends that read most of their time. We instead hangout a lot on socia media or in school. I REALLY! REALY! LOVE TO READ! And Han, you inspired me a lot to read and to set gaol . I have experience with reading 😄😄 and it feels like when I read that I am in a different world than the one I 💖💖 live.

Tbh, I have never set a goal for books or how many books to read in a year. So I am going to follow your STEPS/HACKS!!! Hopefully, um, it will work with my crazy 🌎world.

BTW, I forget to say how amazing is your ideas! The you organized is CREATIVE AND WOW!!! I really love your ideas and the way organized them. I hope to see more of your intelligent ideas in the future(insha Allah) and Masha Allan. I will let you know how I did in 2019( insha Allah) cuz I am a wake Now! I want to read more and more.

    Thanks and keep it💖💖💖

    1. First off, AssalamuAliakum!!

Also, thank you so much for not only following me, but also leaving the cutest comment. *hugs you tightly* Alhumdulillah, you’re an awesome friend!!

I’m struggling with reading lately myself. I blame school and social media and my own laziness. I’m currently in a terrible reading slump and I hate it. I have to finish reading a book tonight, In Shaa Allah.

awww, thank you!!! I love that you want to read more because of me. I basically live in the library though lol. I think we all need a break from real life once in a while, honestly, especially with the world being in the state it’s in now. 😦

DUUUDE, WE SHOULD READ TOGETHER!! We can get the same books and buddy read!! We can take as long as we need and fangirl over the books together!! Talk with you more on that later.

JazakaAllahuKhairan, habibti! ♥♥♥ This legit made my day, Wallahi. I even told Rahma about it 🙂

  5. OMG yes this was hilarious!! “become a hermit” I LOVE IT. I am one ahaha.

I’ve set a small goal this year, because I know that there wont be much time for me to read, WHICH BREAKS MY HEART. I’ve set it at 50(?) and I wishhhhh that I could read more but that’s already more than last year and I don’t want to literally have a break down ahaha. WHY CAN’T THE BOOKS JUST BE IN MY HEAD ALREADY.

I DONT KNOW WHAT IT IS BUT I JUST CAN’T READDDDDDDDD. And I literally have no idea why!! But this post was SO MOTIVATIONAL THANK YOU!!!!

    1. HAHA, I’VE BEEN A HERMIT FOR SO LONG NOW, LOL!! I often forget that I need to interact with people. I see my family sometimes when I venture out to the kitchen xD

50 books is a good goal!! YOU DON’T HAVE TO READ MORE!! READ THE AMOUNT YOU WANT TO READ!! I feel like being a blogger makes us feel like we have to read tons and for some of us, like Cait, it’s easy. But, I know for me that I spend the majority of my time in classes and the rest of the time stressing out at home trying to find time to study when all I really want to do is sleep. I didn’t reach my goal last year of 100 books, but I still set it to 120 this year. DON’T FORGET TO LOVE TO READ BECAUSE YOU LOVE TO READ AND NOT BECAUSE YOU FEEL LIKE YOU HAVE TO!! The GR challenge might have a way of making it a chore rather than something you do just because you enjoy it. I, however, am planning to read tons because I enjoy the many AH-MAZING BOOKS COMING OUT THIS YEAR and when my brain gets tired from writing, reading inspires me again SO YAYAY!!

Sometimes, I wish I could forget all about a book so I can read it all over again and enjoy it for a second “first”time. ♥

I legit have breakdowns on a daily basis over the sheer amount of schoolwork I have to do and it would be awful if books made me feel the same way.

I FEEL THE SAME WAY!! I used to read all the time when I was younger, but nowadays, when I stress over all the homework I haven’t done yet or the tests I have to start studying for and the grades I need to keep up because I don’t want to fail, I just get in this freak out mood and when I get like that, reading also stresses me out because I feel like I’m wasting time. But, the funny thing is I just procrastinate by watching a movie or something, which doesn’t help BECAUSE BOOKS ARE BETTER, but I’M A STRESSED POTATO!!

I’M SO HAPPY THAT THIS POST WAS MOTIVATIONAL TO YOU!! THAT MAKES ME FEEL SO HAPPY!! 🙂

Also, if you want to rant about school and gangirl over books, I’m here to talk. I feel like you get me with the school stuff 🙂

      1. Sameeeee 😂😂😂 from time to time a wild Lu creature can be see roaming the house 😂😂😂😂.

Yes yes exactly!! I’m trying not to stress, I did a wholeeeee post about the pressure to read and I need to just RELAX!!!

Omg yes I remember the first time that I read some of my favourite books and I wish I could go backkkkkkk 💕💕

Same here. I put so much extra pressure on myself, and hey, if you ever need someone to talk to about this hit me up on Twitter!!

Yessss!! I feel so guilty for reading when I “should” be studying and feel bad for relaxing AT ANY TIME even though I KNOW I need a break.

YESS THIS POST WAS AMAZING 💕💕.

Aww thank you you’re so sweet!!!
